Alpha Instructor Training provides the one-to-one training, care and support you need to qualify, and operate effectively, as an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

Overview

Training as a fully qualified driving instructor isn’t an easy process. However, as long as you’re prepared to work hard you have a great chance of passing.

There are 3 exams you need to take and pass each one within 3 attempts (Except Part 1 unlimited).

You also have 2 years to complete all 3 exams from the date you pass the first exam – ADI Part 1.

Trainee Licence

You may choose to apply for a Trainee Licence, issued by the DVSA. This provisional licence allows you to train for your Part 3 test while gaining real-world experience and receiving payment for lessons.

As a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI), you’ll be able to deliver actual driving lessons — a highly effective way to sharpen your instructional skills before taking your Part 3 test. It also gives you the opportunity to begin earning as you train.

The Trainee Licence is valid for six months, during which you’ll continue to receive 20 hours of in-car training. Once you successfully pass your Part 3 test, you can apply to join the DVSA register of Approved Driving Instructors (ADI).
